Adolescent & Teen Therapy
My work with teens is client-centered, ensuring they feel valued, heard, and supported. I help teens better manage stress, improve self-esteem, and navigate social issues. My goal is to alleviate emotional distress and foster resilience and personal growth through evidence-based methods.
I have over 25 years of experience working with children and young adults as an educator and sports coach. These experiences have deeply informed my approach as a therapist, allowing me to understand the many challenges young people face.
I have experience treating a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges including depression, anxiety, social anxiety, stress, trauma, parental divorce, disordered eating habits, substance abuse, bullying, school truancy, sibling dynamics, relational challenges, grief and loss, self harm and suicidal ideation. I’ve also worked with emotional reactivity, anger and outbursts, tantrums, and challenges related to ADHD.
My work with teens includes working with parents and having regular parent collaterals if deemed helpful and necessary. Parent collaterals provide an opportunity to share insights, address concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support your child’s growth and well-being. These sessions can help parents better understand their child’s needs and strengthen communication and connection within the family.
If your adolescent is resistant to therapy, Parent Coaching can be an effective alternative!
